He has a degree in Management from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão Lisbon (ISEG) and has a Post-Graduate degree in Marketing and International Business from the Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa (ISCTE-IUL).
He started his professional career in 1996 in the International Department of Ultramarino National Bank. From there he moved on to consulting, in which he worked for 4 years, subsequently working at Proglobo, the first company in Portugal to work in the field of Biometrics.
In 2002 he joined Proximity Portugal (BBDO Group), starting his career in the world of advertising. After building up experience in Digital, CRM and Activation he took up the role of General Director, a role he was in for around 6 years. In 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010, the agency was considered one of the 50 best agencies in the world by the Won Report. In 2012 he was named General Director of Havas Digital & Entertainment and in 2013 he joined J. Walter Thompson as Director of Integration and Digital. He has been on the jury of the world’s main advertising festivals such as Cannes Lions (2008), El OJO (2008) and the Echo Awards USA (2010).
Nuno Antunes has also been active in industry associations, and has been Vice President of the Association of E-commerce and Interactive Advertising, a member of the board of the Portuguese Direct Marketing Association and a member of the Relationship Marketing Board of the Portuguese Association of Advertising Agencies.
He is a Professor of Social Media and Social CRM at INDEG/ISCTE Business School’s Executive MBA and at the European University. He also lectures on Consumer Behaviour at IPAM and is a trainer at the APAN Academy.
He started his professional career in 1994 at OgilvyOne where he worked until 1998. He then moved to Euro RSCG (now HAVAS Worldwide) where he worked for 3 years.
In 2001 he started his first period at Proximity Portugal and was promoted to Creative Supervisor in 2003 and Creative Director in 2005. Between 2005 and 2006 he worked at Wunderman as Creative Director before returning to Proximity in 2007 as an Executive Creative Director. Under his creative direction Proximity was ranked the 16th best agency in the world (The Big Won) in 2010. In October 2010, he joined BBDO as Creative Director and was responsible for accounts such as Galp, Jumbo, Santa Casa Lottery and Gallo Olive Oil, among others.
In January 2012, he became the creative director of DDB Lisbon where, amongst others, he worked on the Volkswagen, Hasbro and EDP accounts.
His work has been recognised at the main national and international festivals (CCP, Neurónio, Prémios Sapo, Cannes, Caples and Echos). He has won close to 200 prizes including 2 shortlists in Cannes, 3 Silvers and 1 Gold at the Echo Awards and 4 Silvers and 1 Gold at the Caples Awards.
He has been a member of the jury at Cannes Lions, the Echo Awards USA and the John Caples Awards. He chaired the relationship marketing jury of the Clube de Criativos de Portugal in 2006.
